2. A selfie with a healing story

After the loss of a loved one, Theresa decided to accept her friend’s invitation to take a Trafalgar tour to Europe. We are so honored to hear that she would ‘never forget‘ the moments made on trip, and how it ‘helped to lift‘ her spirits up again. Thank you Theresa, for sharing your selfie with a story and letting us be a part of your healing journey, where we enjoyed ‘one adventure and special moment after another’.

‘After losing my Dad, a friend asked me to go on a trip. I can’t begin to describe in words how the trip helped to lift my spirits. I’ve taken numerous other trips with Trafalgar since that first one. It’s the company I look to for group travel.’

4. A selfie that not even COVID could stop

A family taking a selfie and smiling in front of the glittering Eiffel tower, making new wonderful Travel stories in Europe

We love this selfie with this beautiful family, their shining smiles giving the glittering Eiffel Tower a run for its money! Not only is this a wonderful family vacation photo, but it comes with a touching story of how their dream trip to France was postponed over and over again due to COVID-19. Eventually, they just went for it.

‘We were supposed to take our Trafalgar France tour in 2020. But Covid happened and we had to postpone the trip. We figured we would go the following year. But Covid was still to prevalent and flying didn’t feel safe. We decided it would be best to cancel the trip. At this point our kids were growing up fast. They were headed to college and we realized that this may be our last vacation as a family. So we decided to take one last vacation. Thank you Trafalgar for making it so special.’

We’re big believers that travel has the power to make dreams come true. Whether you’ve always wanted to see the Northern Lights or the Great Pyramid of Giza, you can really achieve your childhood dreams through travel. That’s why this is one of our top travel stories, told by Rachael.

‘I’m a history teacher and I’ve always been in love with French culture and life. Getting the chance to visit France and the historic sites really brightened my mood. It’s been a childhood dream and after over 20 years, I finally achieved it.

6. A selfie that’s been years in the making

A couple taking a selfie in front of Medieval fortifications in Carcassonne, France.

Tom’s inspiring travel pic shows him at the wonderful French city of Carcassonne. He tells us how he learnt about the city many years ago, and made the decision to one day see it. Fast forward several years and he’s standing by the fortress walls, taking this selfie as the golden hour sun lights up the beautiful Medieval fortifications.

‘The trip took me back to a time years earlier when I helped my daughter build a salt map of the fortress for a middle school history project and decided that one day I would travel to see the city. I think I booked the trip the day I found a tour that stopped there and looked forward with anticipation to our departure several months later. The visit was better than I had imagined. We arrived in the late afternoon and stayed the night inside the fortress walls. The local guide brought the town to life and the inn presented a wholesome meal for us and our new friends. When I returned home, I had a coffee cup made with one of the many pictures we obtained there. Now, I relive the experience and the school project every time I use the cup.

7. Selfies and travel stories from one of the best days of your life

A girl with red hair and green eyes smiles for the camera in Ireland in front of an old ruined tower

We absolutely adored Charmaine’s story where she had ‘one of the best days of my life’ in Ireland. From kissing the famous Blarney Stone, to discovering incredible castles and walking through the wonderful Fern Garden, she felt transported back to a time of folkloric magic. It’s the sheer excitement in the words, her wonderful smile, and her enthusiasm for life that makes this one of our favorite travel stories, reminding us why travel is so special.

I took every path that I saw; big and small, wide and narrow, bright with sunshine and dark with shadows. The discoveries were endless. I had one of the best days of my life on that day. A day I have A LOT of photos of, and a day that will forever be a cherished memory.

8. When you unlock the Best of Britain, you can’t help but smile

A couple smile for the camera while watching the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

We loved this selfie from Kathryn and her husband at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. It’s not just the pure joy on their faces, but also the accompanying story about how their Travel Director surprised Kathryn with a lovely birthday gift.

‘We’ve made several journeys with Trafalgar (and Insight Vacations) and have always enjoyed the tours and Travel Directors. The Best of Britain tour included some places we’ve not been before, as well as some favorites. My absolute favorite country is Scotland and we happened to travel there on my birthday, August 3. Bridget Upton and the travel team surprised me with a wonderful gift of artwork featuring the Scottish Highlands. I was blown away by Bridget’s thoughtfulness and careful planning. I believe my love of Trafalgar travel and Scotland shows in the photo of my husband and I at the Military Tattoo in Edinburgh.’

In picturesque Wales, our adventurous guest Douglas aimed for a perfect selfie, but little did he expect a delightful surprise. As the camera clicked, a mischievous llama joined the frame, photobombing the moment and adding an unexpected dose of delight to this unforgettable trip through Europe.

‘Our tour in Wales provided another wonderful adventure, including a visit of the Glyndwr Vineyard where we shared great food and great wine with our good friends.  A selfie “jumper” walked right over and stole the show! ‘

To finish our list, we’re celebrating the heartwarming bond between a mother and daughter – shown at its best in this lovely selfie against the iconic backdrop of the London Eye. Just like other travel stories, what we loved was how our Travel Director went the extra mile to make our cherished guests’ trip that much more special.

‘We celebrated my mother’s 65th birthday and we had so much fun and memorable moments with this European traveller trip. Mr. Kevin arranged some surprises for my mother and this made it even more special
