Will I have my own room?

When traveling solo with Trafalgar, it’s your choice whether you have your own room. You can choose from the following options:

Solo room share: If you are going on our Europe, North & South America, Australia & New Zealand trips, consider our solo room share option. We’ll accommodate you with a fellow guest of the same gender, on a twin-bed basis. (Please note this option is unavailable on trips to Asia, Africa, and the Eastern Mediterranean.)

Solo room: If you prefer more space, you can opt for a solo room (dependent on availability). This option will incur a solo supplement.

Will I have to pay a single supplement?

As a solo traveler, you will only have to pay a solo supplement if you choose to have your own room, an option available on our Europe, North & South America, Australia & New Zealand trips.

The cost will depend on the trip and departure date. To find out the cost of a solo room, select Continue on the departure of your choice and then select the solo room option.

If you’d rather not pay a solo supplement, on many departures you have the option of single room upgrades or reduced single supplements.

What is the average age of solo travelers?

The good news is travel (and solo travel) is for everybody with Trafalgar! We have guests of all ages travel with us, and the beauty of coming on a Trafalgar tour means that you’ll meet people from across the world, from different backgrounds, young and old.

How big will my group be?

The number of guests on tour with you can vary depending on where your tour is going:

Europe trips: An average of 40 to 45 guests

United States and Canada trips: A maximum of 52 guests

Australia and New Zealand trips: A maximum of 50 guests

Asia trips: A maximum of 28 guests

Africa trips: A maximum of 20 guests

Latin America trips: A maximum of 40 to 45 guests

Wherever you’re traveling, you can be sure that you’ll meet an incredible group of people from across the world – that’s the beauty of going guided with Trafalgar.

Is solo travel suitable for introverts?

When traveling solo on a Trafalgar tour, you can get involved as much or as little as you like. We have many Optional Experiences to choose from, so if one day you feel like throwing yourself into your tour, you can do that – or you can spend some free time on your own to recharge.

We create each itinerary with the perfect balance of downtime and discoveries. Keep an eye out for some of our trips that offer a more relaxed pace, with later starts and longer stays in each place.

If you would like to exclude yourself from an included experience, make sure to speak with your Travel Director so they can keep you up to date with timings and meeting points. Please note we cannot provide any compensation or refunds if you decide to not take part in an included activity or meal.

Why should I travel solo with Trafalgar?

Traveling solo with Trafalgar means you can see the world and meet some incredible people along the way. You’ll share unforgettable moments together, and it’s why many of our guests stay in touch long after their tour has ended.

Going guided with Trafalgar on your solo travel journey also means that you don’t have to think about any of the logistical aspects of the trip – where you’re going to stay or eat, or what you’re going to do each day. Everything is taken care of when you travel with us and our Travel Directors will look out for you every step of the way, so all you have to do is focus on making new friends, seeing the world, and having a great time.

If you want to make new friends and experience new things, you'll love our handcrafted group tours, where you’ll see and experience the best of each destination, while learning new skills like cooking with local chefs and enjoying dinner and storytelling with local families.

Why is solo travel important?

Traveling alone is one of the most enriching experiences you can have. It’s empowering and liberating and will challenge your limits. It helps you get out of your comfort zone, gain confidence, and see the world in a unique way. Solo travel also gives you the opportunity to learn about new cultures, gain new skills, and meet like-minded people who might just become lifelong friends.
