House of Gucci is Ridley Scott’s glamorous romp through Italian fashion, glamour and style. Starring Adam Driver as Maurizio Gucci and Lady Gaga as his wife, Patrizia, the movie tells the story of the Gucci family dynasty through three decades, leading up to the 1995 murder of Maurizio. But it’s not just the family drama that takes centre stage in House of Gucci – the locations are pretty incredible, too.
Filmed entirely in Italy, the movie is set against a number of stunning backdrops including the fashionable streets of Milan, a 16-century villa in Lake Como and the snow-capped Italian Alps. Read on to discover the most glamorous House of Gucci filming locations.
The Alpine mountains of Gressoney-Saint-Jean
Gressoney-Saint-Jean is a pretty Alpine village in Aosta Valley, at the foot of Monte Rosa, in Western Italy. In the movie, Gressoney stands in for St Moritz, where Patrizia Reggiani (Gaga) and Maurizio (Driver) had a chalet.
The village is rich in Italian-French-German heritage – the locals here speak an Almanian dialect called the Greschòneytitsch, or put more simply, Titsch. In Gressoney, expect to discover idyllic snow-capped mountains, fairytale castles and a slew of traditional church buildings. The village is also famous for its Chneffléné, a local gnocchi.

The fashionable streets of Milan
As most of the House of Gucci revolves around the family’s fashion empire, a big part of the movie is set in Italy’s fashion capital, Milan.
The movie’s climax, Maurizio’s assassination, plays out amidst the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, designed in 1861 and home to some of the oldest shops and restaurants in Milan, including, of course, Gucci.
Also featured in the movie is Villa Necchi-Campiglio, used in the film as the home of Rudolfo Gucci (played by Jeremy Irons). The Milanese building was built in 1935 and is now open to the public as a museum.

The waterside luxury of Lake Como
The crown for the most glamorous filming location in the House of Gucci, though, has to go to Lake Como, home to A-listers such as George Clooney, Donatella Versace and Madonna. In the movie, the opulent lakeside Villa Balbiano doubles as the Gucci family home presided over by head of the family, Aldo Gucci (played by Al Pacino).
The 16-century waterside property is resplendent with picturesque gardens, six marble bathrooms and antique furniture from auction houses, Christie’s and Sotheby’s.
