From social distancing to hyper handwashing, we’re all adapting to this new world. For us at Trafalgar, that means taking on additional physical distancing and hygiene practices on our trips to ensure the wellbeing of all our guests and team members.
As countries begin to emerge from their local lockdowns, we’re seeing border restrictions and health advisories changing at a rapid pace. We’re following these updates closely to implement enhanced hygiene and physical distancing protocols to give you peace of mind when we begin to travel again. From extra clean coaches to expertly trained staff, here are all the important hygiene practices you can expect to see on your next Trafalgar trip.
Sanitised coaches
Our customised luxury coaches have always followed strict hygiene standards and are always sanitised before the start of your trip. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve turned our hygiene practices up a notch, with guidance from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and applicable government regulations.
Our additional measures include training our Drivers on the latest hygiene protocols. They will ensure that all surfaces such as seats, tables, handrails, door handles, overhead lockers and air-conditioning filters are cleaned and disinfected on a daily basis.
Hygiene equipment for guests
To help keep our coaches clean, we ask all our guests to follow the hygiene practices recommended by the WHO. This includes the regular washing and sanitising of hands and we’ll have sanitiser freely available onboard to use every day.
We’ll also have additional face masks, antiviral spray, wipes and rubber gloves available for guests on all trips if needed. We ask that you bring your own gloves and washable face mask with you, and any extra soap or hand sanitiser you need for hygienic travel.

Physical distancing procedures
We’ve changed our group sizes based on government distancing requirements. So you can have peace of mind that you’ll have your own personal space when you travel with Trafalgar. You can also rest assured that all of the hotels, restaurants and experiences you enjoy on your trip have been checked to ensure they follow all hygiene and physical distancing guidelines.
Expertly trained Travel Directors
All our Travel Directors follow stringent hygienic travel and physical distancing procedures. You’ll see them monitoring the hygiene etiquette of guests and advising when needed. They’ll also ensure that high standards of hygiene are maintained throughout your trip. Along with preventative measures, your Travel Director is also trained to follow additional procedures if any unexpected situations arise.
Trusted partners
We work with so many incredible local hotels, restaurants, museums and other attractions. These have all been carefully vetted to ensure we’re working with venues that are serious about the wellbeing of guests.
We only work with establishments that agree to meet our expected guidelines, and we must be confident that they will consistently meet our standards. With such a stringent vetting process, you can rest assured that every place you visit is applying a high standard of hygiene and distancing to ensure your wellbeing as much as possible.
The latest information
The most effective way to stop the spread of COVID-19 is to stay informed. We ensure that we’re always up to date with the latest travel alerts and government advisories every day. We continually get in touch with all our partners on the ground in each destination to get live updates. Plus, our teams are always ensuring that our partners are following hygiene protocols both before and during your trip.
We’ll keep you well informed before you travel so you’re also up to date with new protocols. If any new situations arise, your Travel Director will be ready to advise your group with the latest information.
Lastly, it’s not just your Driver and Travel Director who will be taking care of you on your trip. We’ve also got our wonderful operations and guest support teams working behind the scenes. You can get in contact with them on the phone 24/7. Whether you’re about to jet off or you’re already on your trip, you’ll know you’ll be in good hands when you travel with Trafalgar in the post-COVID-19 world.

Personal responsibility
COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the WHO and government health bodies, senior citizens and people with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.
While we have introduced stringent hygiene and distancing protocols on our trips for all guests and team members, there will always be a risk of exposure to COVID-19 in public places where people are gathered. We ask that all guests take personal responsibility for their wellbeing, starting with packing personal hygiene travel kits. Bring along your own protective equipment including face masks, sanitiser, gloves, antibacterial wipes and tissues.
Once you are on your trip, it’s important to follow all health instructions from our staff and take on our hygiene and physical distancing practices. If you are feeling unwell, you should alert our team immediately.
Let’s work together to keep everyone healthy on our travels and beyond!
