In just a few short weeks, travel has come to a stand still. Borders have closed and flights have been grounded to help stop the spread of COVID-19, the global coronavirus pandemic. Many people are separated from friends and family or have had their trips postponed, while others are going a little loopy in isolation. Wherever you are, you’re probably dreaming of getting back out into the world. We know we are!
A lot of destinations will need tourists to come back once the pandemic is over, plus science shows that the anticipation of a journey is often the best part of travelling. So where will you go first? Get inspired by our list of places we can’t wait to visit once it’s safe to travel again.
Italy

Definitely Italy. The Amalfi, Como, anywhere in Italy! I have been dreaming about swimming, jumping off rocks, and riding in a wooden boat to an exotic location for an awesome lunch wearing an awesome outfit. I’ve never been more desperate for a holiday to Italy than now and I am feeling the pull. That first Aperol when I finally get there will not know how appreciated it is!

Turkey

First I’ll be exploring my new home in Switzerland and going back to my real home in Russia. Then Turkey! I’m a huge fan of all things outdoors and ‘not-too-touristy’, and especially now when it’s such a forbidden fruit, I’m dreaming of exploring Turkey’s landscapes.
Cappadocia, Pamukkale, the secluded beaches of the Aegean and the Black Sea, gorgeous canyons and waterfalls, underground cities, seeing the wild Yilki horses in the foothills of Mount Erciyes… I was meant to explore it all on my birthday trip this week, and postponing it now gets me itching to go as soon as it’s all over. I cannot wait!

Georgia

I can’t wait to visit Georgia and it’s on my list this year. We actually had flights booked but will postpone the trip. I’m drawn to Georgia because it’s off the beaten track and absolutely beautiful! It’s one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world and home to some spectacular churches. Oh, and the food is meant to be amazing.

Switzerland and Portugal

For me, living in London has me dreaming of wide-open spaces and beautiful mountains. I’d love to explore more of Switzerland in the summer months… head into the hills and go hiking with a picnic of all the Swiss cheese, bread and chocolate. I’m also dreaming of the ocean and the sweeping beaches of Portugal, where I plan to head this summer for a family holiday (fingers crossed!).

Bulgaria
Deyana, VP Digital Marketing

I am looking to start travelling the world but the first place I am going is home to Sofia, Bulgaria. I’ll be giving a massive cuddle to my parents and my cats because I was actually meant to be there right now, doing exactly that. After Bulgaria, I’ll start thinking about some other beautiful destinations.

Chile and Argentina

After being stuck in self-isolation for weeks on end, I’m dreaming of the fresh air and wilderness of Patagonia in Chile and Argentina. I’d love to explore the massive glaciers of Los Glaciares National Park, see the famous granite peaks of Torres del Paine, cruise the fjords along the Rio Serrano, and see incredible wildlife like penguins and sea lions.
I can’t think of a better place to stretch my legs than Patagonia, and I can’t wait to be amazed by our beautiful Earth again! But first – Brisbane and Canberra in Australia to see my wonderful friends and family.
