21 dreamy travel spots to visit

We may not be travelling right now, but after being stuck inside for a number of weeks now our travel dreams have gone into overdrive. From the sunny shores of Greece and the lakes of Slovenia, to the blue lagoons of Iceland and the fjords of Norway, here are 21 destinations topping our travel dream list right now.

1. Plitvice, Croatia

We can’t wait to be blown away by the natural beauty of Plitvice National Park in Croatia. This UNESCO site is made up of 16 dazzling lakes and dozens of stunning waterfalls in all shades of blue and green. You can walk along a wooden pathway that weaves between the cascades and forest. It really is like something from a fantasy land.

2. Patagonia, Argentina & Chile

Dreaming of wide-open spaces with massive glaciers, rugged mountains, turquoise lakes, vast icefields and unique wildlife? Sounds like Patagonia! This incredible wilderness is located at the end of the earth and stretches across Chile and Argentina. It’s definitely one for the travel bucket list.

3. The Golden Circle, Iceland

Mother Nature really shows off in Iceland. We can’t wait to go exploring through the Golden Circle, with geysers, waterfalls, blue lagoons and crater lakes all on the travel bucket list. You can see Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall, Geysir geothermal area and don’t miss the stunning Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls.

4. Santorini, Greece

Stunning scenery awaits in Santorini, a dreamy island in the Mediterranean. From the whitewashed buildings and bright blue domed roofs to the white sandy beaches and brilliant sunsets, there is endless beauty here. One thing’s for sure – your camera will be getting a good workout! 

5. Tbilisi, Georgia

Georgia is one of our favourite hidden gems in Europe and takes a top spot on the travel dream list. The capital of Tbilisi is an enchanting maze of alleyways and courtyards, filled with a blend of Russian and European architecture. Our wish list starts with the historic Old Town, the soothing sulphur baths and riding the cable car to The Mother Statue.

6. Halong Bay, Vietnam

What could be more magical than climbing aboard a traditional boat and drifting through an emerald sea of limestone karsts, white sandy coves and floating fishing villages? This is exactly what awaits you in Halong Bay in northern Vietnam. Don’t miss this natural wonder of the world off your travel bucket list!

7. Amalfi Coast, Italy

We’ve been pining for the beautiful landscapes of Italy, and the Amalfi Coast will be one of our first stops once it’s safe to travel again. We’ll be sure to visit the clifftop village of Sorrento and the paradise of Positano, perched on the Mediterranean coast. We’ll even cross the Bay of Naples to the stunning Isle of Capri. 

8. Uluru, Australia

There’s something truly special about Uluru, the largest rock monolith in the world. It’s a highlight of any trip Down Under and we can’t wait to learn about the ancient Aboriginal culture and their 50,000-year connection with these sacred lands. Don’t forget to pause at the end of the day and toast to the glorious sunsets with a glass of bubbles.

9. Cappadocia, Turkey

The peculiar landscapes of Cappadocia in Turkey have long been on our travel dream list. Whether you explore the strange rock formations, fairy chimneys and ancient caves on the ground, or take it all in from above in a hot air balloon, it’s sure to be amazing. 

10. Machu Picchu, Peru

Peru is packed with incredible wonders and it doesn’t get more iconic than Machu Picchu. You can’t miss walking the ancient pathways of the Incas to the ruins. Be sure to see the Sacred Plaza, the Temple of the Sun, and scratch your head at the ancient sundial. 

11. Lake Bled, Slovenia

Lake Bled is Slovenian scenery at its finest and we’re fantasising about cruising along this postcard-perfect lake. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a storybook, with bright blue glacial waters and a tiny chapel perched on an island. Be sure to explore the ancient Bled Castle, surrounded by powdered peaks and lush forest.

12. Serengeti, Tanzania

After being cooped up inside during the lockdown, we’re dreaming of stretching our legs in the Serengeti. It’s the largest national park in Tanzania, home to one of the world’s most ancient ecosystems. There are hundreds of incredible animals to spot including Africa’s Big Five. Time your visit right and you can witness the Great Migration, the world’s largest overland migration of wildlife. 

13. Lake District, England

When we want to feel the magic of the great outdoors, we think of the Lake District. This is the beautiful region that inspired the likes of Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. With rambling green hills, gorgeous lakes and rivers, evergreen forests and charming villages, the Lake District should be on everyone’s travel dream list.

14. The Rockies, Canada

The Canadian Rockies are often hailed as one of the most beautiful places on earth. One look and you’ll probably agree! With snow-capped mountains, glittering glaciers, lush alpine forests and electric blue lakes, the Rockies has it all.

15. Geirangerfjord, Norway

Norway is filled with spectacular spots and one of our favourites is Geirangerfjord. We’ve been daydreaming about its deep blue waters surrounded by snow-capped mountains, lush greenery, charming farms and stunning waterfalls.

16. Angkor Wat, Cambodia

If you’ve always wanted to travel back in time, you have to take a journey to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. This ancient temple complex is the world’s largest religious monument, filled with intricate murals and carvings. Watching the sunrise over the crumbling ruins will be something you’ll never forget.

17. Sinaia, Romania

It’ll feel like you’ve walked into the pages of a fairytale when you visit Sinaia in Romania. It’s set in the Carpathian mountains and surrounded by beautiful alpine forests. You can even explore the magical PeleÈ™ Castle and the ancient Sinaia Monastery. 

18. Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

You can’t have a travel bucket list without including the largest waterfall on earth. The Victoria Falls is known locally as ‘The Smoke That Thunders’ and you’ll understand the name as soon as you hear the roar and feel the spray of this natural wonder of the world. 

19. Lucerne, Switzerland

We’re craving a trip to Lucerne, one of the most beautiful towns in all of Europe! It’s set in the heart of the Swiss Alps, surrounded by the dazzling Lake Lucerne and snow-capped mountains like Mount Stanserhorn. Plus, there’s plenty of gorgeous buildings and historic gems to explore. Bliss!

20. South Island, New Zealand

We can’t wait to explore the icons of the South Island in New Zealand. From the scenic TranzAlpine train journey and the icy depths of Franz Josef Glacier, to the bright blue Lake Tekapo and the Milford Sound, this is one unforgettable place.

21. Keukenhof, The Netherlands

Spring has sprung, so of course, the enchanting gardens of Keukenhof are on our travel dream list. It is one of the largest flower gardens in the world, with around seven million flower bulbs planted each year. It’s most famous for its endless fields of tulips and you’ll love wandering through the gorgeous gardens.
