What type of trip cancelation coverage do I have?

If you need to cancel for any reason and purchased the Travel Protection Plan, you will receive reimbursement in the form of a Future Travel Certificate from your Travel Provider equal to 100% of the cancellation charges.

Am I covered if I contract COVID-19?

You may be covered if you, a Traveling Companion* or a Family Member* contract COVID-19. If you contract COVID-19 after purchasing Travel Protection and are diagnosed prior to departure, the trip cancellation benefit may provide coverage if you need to cancel your trip. You will need to provide proof of sickness from your doctor and a statement that you are medically unable to travel.

If you contract COVID-19 once you’ve already started your trip, the trip interruption benefit may provide coverage if you need to interrupt your trip because you or a Traveling Companion* become sick. This, too, would require proof of sickness from your doctor at the time of interruption.

If you become sick with COVID-19 while traveling, your medical expenses may be reimbursed as well up to the benefit limits indicated in your plan.

*“Family Member” means any of the following: Your or Your Traveling Companion’s legal spouse (or common-law spouse where legal), legal guardian or ward, son or daughter (adopted, foster, step or in-law), brother or sister (includes step or in-law), parent (includes step or in-law), grandparent (includes in-law), grandchild, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew, Domestic Partner, Caregiver, or Child Caregiver.

*“Traveling Companion” means a person or persons whose names appear with Yours on the same Travel Arrangements and who, during Your Trip, will share accommodations with You in the same room, cabin, condominium unit, apartment unit or other lodging.

What happens if COVID-19 causes me to be Quarantined*?

If you are Quarantined* prior to your trip, the trip cancellation benefit may reimburse you for unused pre-paid, non-refundable trip costs. If you are Quarantined during your trip, the trip interruption benefit may reimburse you for missed, unused pre-paid non-refundable trip costs and additional transportation costs to return home or catch up to your trip.

If COVID-19 causes you to be Quarantined*, delaying your trip for 12 hours or more, you may be eligible for trip delay benefits which may reimburse additional expenses for transportation, meals and accommodations, as well as missed unused pre-paid, non-refundable travel arrangements (up to the limits indicated in the plan).

In each case, you would need to provide proof from a doctor or government authority verifying your need to quarantine, as well as receipts for any expenses incurred.

*Quarantine means the enforced strict isolation and confinement of You or Your Traveling Companion at a single location, for medical reasons, pursuant to an order by an official government authority, a lawfully authorized deputy of such authority, or a licensed practicing Physician, which prevents any interaction with other persons for a specified period of time not exceeding the incubation period for a contagious disease to which You or Your Traveling Companion have been exposed. Governmental orders imposing Prohibited Access, social distancing, self-isolation that does not meet all of the requirements set forth above, shelter in place, or stay at home requirements or recommendations do not constitute a Quarantine.

What happens if I am afraid to travel due to the coronavirus?

Fear of potentially contracting COVID-19 or fear of being Quarantined is not a covered reason to cancel your trip. However, if you have the Travel Protection Plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement in the form of a Future Travel Certificate issued by your Travel Provider for 100% of the cancellation charges.

If you have the Travel Protection Plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement in the form of a Future Travel Certificate issued by your Travel Provider for 100% of the cancelation charges.

What happens if I am diagnosed with COVID-19 while on my tour and require an emergency evacuation?

Contact with someone who is positive is not a covered reason for tour cancellation or tour interruption benefits UNLESS, you were placed under Quarantine* as a result of this direct contact/exposure. If you were to become sick and are diagnosed with COVID-19 by a Physician and are deemed medically unable to travel, you may be covered with proper documentation.

Additionally, you may be eligible for reimbursement in the form of a Future Travel Certificate issued by your Travel Provider for 100% of the cancellation charges.

If you have the Travel Protection Plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement in the form of a Future Travel Certificate issued by your Travel Provider for 100% of the cancellation charges.

If I am diagnosed with COVID-19 prior to my scheduled tour, how long do I have to cancel and be covered for any penalties I may incur?

Regardless of your reason for cancelation, all cancelation claims must be reported to Aon and your Travel Provider(s) within 30 days* of becoming aware that you are sick (or otherwise unable to travel) or as soon as reasonably possible, and prior to scheduled tour. Your sickness or reason for cancellation must occur after your Travel Protection plan purchase (Effective) date.
