Mykonos is best visited between May and October, when rainfall is low and the sun is shining – the peak summer season in July and August will be busiest with visitors, so if you prefer it slightly quieter and cooler then visit Mykonos in the shoulder seasons during spring and fall.

What is the weather like in Mykonos?

During July and August, summer sees almost no rainfall and temperatures are warm, averaging around 28ºC. Fall cools down to around 23ºC during September and October, similarly to spring during May and June – neither of these seasons are particularly rainy. Winter is the off season, so not much will be open and the weather is colder and wet.

Mykonos is the perfect base to sail to Delos, once a sacred island and birthplace of God Apollo and his twin sister Artemis. Pop into the Delos museum, visit the Temple of Apollos, and perhaps even go for a swim.

Kopanisti

This spreadable cheese is unique to Greece, but the Mykonian variety is the most well-known. Produced from cow, goat and sheep milk it’s spicy and sharp, delicious with bread, a Greek salad or even fruit.

Amygdalota

A beloved treat in Mykonos, amygdalota are chewy almond cookies. Made with ground almonds and flavoured with rose or orange blossom water, they’re crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. Perfect with a strong Greek coffee!
