Some areas were too rushed to see/enjoy - Teton and Jackson. The five plus hours at the Grand Canyon was too long especially without a guided tour.;
As a repeat customer with Trafalgar...I have traveled in both Europe and the US. While I find that the European tours are more impressive, the US tours also provided some good experiences. The most recent 5 Epic Parks was impressive as there was so much to see in a relatively short amount of time. There were many highlights among Yellowstone, Jackson, Bryce, Zion, and the Grand Canyon. We made a nice stop at the Cameron Trading Post which enabled us to trade with the Reservation. There were so many amazing sites it's hard to single out just one, but Zion was a standout for me. There were a number of stops that maybe could allow more time (Jackson and the Grand Tetons in particular - Cameron Trading shopping was rushed and we had to wait to pay). There are a few areas that I, personally, feel could be reflected upon: 1. a walking tour at the Grand Canyon would have been nice (rather than just being handed a map that wasn't specific enough - although we found one at the visitor center). 2. The farewell dinner was chaotic at best. We as a group had to compete with a crowded room to secure our buffet dinner much of which was not replenished at our set time of 7:00. However, we were served coffee and dessert and the wait staff really put in a great effort to accommodate our drink and dessert needs.. 3. The dinner in Salt Lake City was amazing - food, staff, etc. 4. We had a good number of people test positive for Covid on our tour. Our Well Director was amazing and sought to accommodate anything necessary (including securing food). However, it might have been prudent to have a mask mandate once people started testing positive. At least on the coach and train-ride where people were in close proximity and many with coughs and drippy sinuses.
If you are looking even further ahead, this trip is available to book in 2023. Visit our website for dates and today’s best prices.
Due to a temporary Jackson Airport closure, trips departing April 11-June 28 will start in Idaho Falls instead of Jackson. The tour will then travel from Idaho Falls to Jackson on Day 2 and continue on as planned.

Active Trip Details

What is an Active Trip? This is an "Active" lifestyle itinerary, with walks and hikes most days. Hikes will range from easy/moderate to strenuous. No technical climbing skills are required but a reasonable level of fitness is required to make the trip more enjoyable. Understanding that not all people want to hike at the same pace or even on the same trail we will, where possible, host map orientation and then let everyone disperse to enjoy the trails best suited to them.
What to Pack Guests should bring lightweight hiking shoes or boots, broad brimmed sun hats, sunglasses, layered clothing, reusable water bottle(s), a hiking day pack and hiking poles (optional)
Weather & Altitude While the itinerary is laid out below, we are at the mercy of the weather and so reserve the right to adjust the program as necessary. Please keep in mind that the higher elevations and possible variations in weather and temperature can increase the perceived level of difficulty of our activities. Elevation ranges up to 9,000 feet for Utah’s Mighty Five and up to 11,000 feet for California High Country Adventure.
Everyone reacts differently to altitude and so if you do have any health issues you should check with your doctor that this trip is suitable for you.
