Day 4
Pioneer Through Monument Valley
This morning, say goodbye to the playground of giants and arrive at the UNESCO-listed Mesa Verde National Park where we’ll enjoy a rare opportunity to delve into the history and culture of the once-flourishing community of the Ancestral Pueblo people. Explore their beautifully preserved dwellings hewn from the sandstone cliff centuries ago and look down at the massive Cliff Palace, the largest cliff dwelling in the world. This evening enjoy a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience and join our generous Navajo hosts for a traditional cookout Regional Dinner against the surreal backdrop of Monument Valley.
The arresting beauty of Monument Valley is ours to explore this morning as we join a Local Specialist and Dive Into Culture as we drive in an open-air vehicle past its towering sandstone buttes and mesas that rise up from the barren landscape. We continue through the ancestral home of the Navajo, arriving at Cameron Trading Post for a quick shopping stop and perhaps a taste of traditional fry bread. Driving along the scenic Desert View Drive, we skirt the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and gaze into its mesmerizing multi-coloured depths before Connecting With a Local to gain insights into its geologic life. Our grand adventure almost at its end, we join our fellow travellers for a Farewell Dinner to reminisce over the epic landscapes encountered along our journey.

Based on the sites visited and inclusions, this was a good value!
It was wonderful to travel without worrying about lodging, food and transportation everyday! Trafalgar's team of Tour Director, Driver and Well-Being Director took care of all the details.
We had plenty of time to enjoy and explore the amazing sites. Our guide was knowledgeable and approachable. It was our first Trafalgar vacation, will not be our last.
I would highly recommend Trafalgar. Our vacation was stress free, since all was taken care of for us...meals, luggage, touring new places...we met new friends...we will be back!
Not rushed, perfect timing to see the sights and experience the area's beauty and grandeur. Randy our guide kept the rides on the bus short enough to allow for bathroom breaks and stretching. Cannot emphasize enough what a great job Randy and Michael did on making this experience so enjoyable.
Our tour guide Randy Fey was superb, as was the Health and Welfare Manager Michael Cole!!!!! They took care of us like we were part of their family! They as a team dynamically adapted, anticipated and improvised solutions to the changing climate and availability issues that made the trip flawless.

What is an Active Trip? This is an "Active" lifestyle itinerary, with walks and hikes most days. Hikes will range from easy/moderate to strenuous. No technical climbing skills are required but a reasonable level of fitness is required to make the trip more enjoyable. Understanding that not all people want to hike at the same pace or even on the same trail we will, where possible, host map orientation and then let everyone disperse to enjoy the trails best suited to them. What to Pack Guests should bring lightweight hiking shoes or boots, broad brimmed sun hats, sunglasses, layered clothing, reusable water bottle(s), a hiking day pack and hiking poles (optional)
Weather & Altitude While the itinerary is laid out below, we are at the mercy of the weather and so reserve the right to adjust the program as necessary. Please keep in mind that the higher elevations and possible variations in weather and temperature can increase the perceived level of difficulty of our activities. Elevation ranges up to 9,000 feet for Utah’s Mighty Five and up to 11,000 feet for California High Country Adventure.
Everyone reacts differently to altitude and so if you do have any health issues you should check with your doctor that this trip is suitable for you.
