Ljubljana
Crowned by a stunning hilltop castle and built on the banks of the Ljubljanica River, Slovenia’s compact capital is packed with culture, attractions, museums and galleries. Wander through the narrow streets of the Old Town to the central square, Presenov Trg. And visit the famous balustraded, lamp-lined Triple Bridge, where stairways lead down to terraces which line the river. Our Local Specialists will weave personal tales into tours of the Opera house, St Nicholas’ Cathedral, the National Museum, Parliament, and Francesco Robba's beautifully sculpted fountain. You can also take the funicular up to the 16th century castle and enjoy the views of the Old Town from the clock tower.
Lake Bled
Tucked away in the Julian Alps, surrounded by forests, Bled’s clear azure lake is a serene hideaway where you’ll be able to truly relax. The lake is warmed to a comfortable 26°C by thermal springs during the summer, when it’s a popular spot for watersports. Here you can swim, take a boat ride or explore your surroundings. Bled Island is home to a Baroque church decorated with Gothic frescoes, while Bled Castle, high on the cliff above the lake, offers stunning views of the area from the courtyard.
Postojna Caves
Take an optional trip to the underground caves at Postojna, Slovenia’s biggest tourist attraction. The web of subterranean tunnels and caverns – more than two million years old – was hollowed out by the Pivka River and features arches decorated with spiky stalactites and stalagmites. One cavern is big enough to be used as a concert hall, holding 10,000 people for regular musical performances and an annual mimed nativity.
