What to pack for Antarctica

Layered clothing
Warm, layered items of clothing are arguably the most important item of clothing for an Antarctica expedition. To help keep you warm and protect you from the cold Antarctic weather, you’ll need a polar fleece jacket, at least one warm waterproof jacket, woolen thermal layers and waterproof pants.
Footwear
You’ll want to buy a pair of good quality, grippy, waterproof boots for your Antarctic adventure. To keep your feet warm (both onboard and offboard the ship), we also recommend you bring a mix of thin and thick socks.
Accessories
One key thing you need to remember when dressing for the cold is that most of your core body temperature is lost through your extremities (hands and head). Make sure you pack a mixture of mittens, gloves and beanies to keep you nice and warm.
Camera
The landscapes that you’ll bear witness to in Antarctica are some of the most astonishingly beautiful sites you’ll ever see, so be sure to pack your camera so that you can capture all of the magical moments.
Waterproof bag
The last thing you want as you embark on your daily adventures is to drop your camera or belongings in the snow. Make sure you choose a quality, waterproof bag to store all of your valuables in.
Blank Journal
You’re bound to be struck by inspiration as you encounter the landscapes and people of South America. A journal is a great way to record your memories to share with friends back home.
